Formula V1 PH bet Rivera finish strong in Suzuka

Suzuka Circuit. Formula V1 PH champion Estefano Rivera finished fifth out of 30 Japanese drivers in the recently concluded 2019 Suzuka Clubman Race in Japan.

Rivera, who raced under the flag of Formula V1 TRS Obengers Team, bested more experienced Japanese racers and qualified fifth overall. He only had two days to practice and familiarize himself with the Formula 1 track and the car.

“I feel pretty happy with my performance. But, at the same time, I also feel that I could’ve finished a lot better. But, all in all, it was a great experience.” said a jubilant Rivera on an interview after his race.

The Formula V1 Champion described Suzuka Circuit as his favorite now. “Every session, I was able to improve. Learn a lot more about the car, the race track, and even from my co-racers.” Rivera also stated that his Suzuka race helped him a lot to improve his skills.

The strong finish is not without incident. Rivera climbed into fourth place but span out on lap three and ended up in 8th place. He slowly climbed back up to 5th place when the checkered flag was waved.

Formula V1 and Tuason Racing founder JP Tuason believes Filipinos are built to excel in Motorsports. Formula V1 paves the way for Filipino racers to be able to compete abroad in equal footing. 

”We plan to role out the series in different Asian countries in the next 2-3 years. ”said Tuason. ”This will allow each champion from different countries to come together and hone their talent.”
