Motorsports Marketing: All You Need To Know

In terms of bringing your brand before a vast viewing audience, investing in Motorsports Marketing will help your brand take it up a notch.

Though Motorsport Marketing can sound complicated and expensive, it could be a big help if you aim to level up your brand. It can also be simple as long as you have a budget to associate your name with motorsports.

Having a Motorsports Marketing organization can also support you in looking for local sponsorship opportunities. The same group can also get you to set up by searching for excellent motorsport drivers representing your brand to reach your target market further.

If you have already decided to dive into motorsports marketing, here are some things that you need to know.

  1. Know where to advertise your Motorsport events:
  • Decide on the type of exposure your business or brand. Local businesses are the perfect option to start. They can look into race track advertisements and have a space for local ads once they are convinced.
  • If you plan to reach a broader market, look for contacts in the motorsports event industry. Sponsoring an event is one way to get exposure. Tuason Racing can help you with those connections, and collaborating with these groups or organizations can give you an edge in your marketing endeavor.

2. The coverage of Motorsports Advertising is enormous.

  •  The reach is uncountable and could reach more areas than one. Promotion can depend on the brand’s decision on how to work on it like the following:
  • Car exposure- putting your brand on the winning driver is a big help, though you have to allot a specific budget.
  • Transport Wrapping- Your brand is carried on the transporter bringing the race car from one area to another. Another cost is needed for this one as well.

While there is more to explore in Motorsports Marketing, there are always options you can choose and decide on depending on what path do you want to take for your brand. With whatever type of exposure you select, It’s a win-win situation for your brand and the race.

California Superbike School Philippines is coming back on track this March 27-28, 2021.

The long wait is over! The California Superbike School kicked off with a press conference last February 26, 2021 at The Roofdeck of Joy Nostalg in Ortigas, Pasig. The guests of honor in attendance were CSS Champion and Marketing Manager Raniel Resuello, Wheeltek Representatives Roscoe Odulio and Bobbie Orbe, Kawasaki Representative, Henry Raquedan and Superbike Enthusiast and California Superbike School Philippines Representative, Emil Banno. They talked about what to look forward to this 2021 given the unique situation CSS Philippines has to face and how CSS Philippines is more than ready to have Superbike enthusiasts, racers and students back on the track.

Keith Code founded the CSS in 1980 with one goal in mind: to teach  motorcycle riders to drive better, safer, and faster. Since its debut, it has  trained over 150,000 riders worldwide.

The California Superbike School (CSS) made its Philippine debut last  February 2014 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga with  63-70 students from all over the Philippines and 12 of the most  experienced coaches. This year’s instructors will be coming from the US  and UK who will rigorously train the students.

Locally, CSS Philippines had trained almost a thousand students nationwide including classes in  Thailand and Malaysia. Tuason Racing School is the Philippines’ premier racing school and is  a 22-year mogul in the business. Together with Dave Howitt, one of the few  who have attained a level 4 master coaching status, TRS will again host  the CSS Philippines this coming March with the continuous support of  Wheeltek, Kawasaki, Cleanfuel, Tuason Racing, Euro Monkeys, C!Magazine, Pirelli, Motul and Alpinestars

New students will start with the level 1 riding class on day one and the level  2 riding class on day 2, focusing on throttle control, proper steering  techniques, determining reference points on the track, racing lines, and  correct braking.

Level 3 will mostly cover proactive technical points of riding, body  positioning, and a unique drill called “Attack Angles” which will give the

riders a better approach to cornering. Level 4 takes a completely different  turn; it is custom-built to suit the specific needs of every rider, building up  any weaknesses found after taking Levels 1-3.

One of the burning questions during the event was the safety measure that CSS Philippines will be taking to ensure the safety of all the individuals involved. It was discussed by Raniel Resuello in the press conference that this year will still carry the same thrill, excitement and knowledge from the past few years but with extra steps taken to ensure that everyone who will be involved in the event will be kept safe with on call swab tests and social distancing protocols put into place.

On the other hand, Wheeltek Representative Bobie Orbe said that after a challenging year for the motorsports and automotive industry, to be able to run CSS Philippines this year is a big accomplishment and a sign that the motorsports and automotive industry is easing its way back to normal. He calls for support for California Superbike School Philippines not just to help the automotive and motorsports industry but also to help the overall Philippine economy.

The all-in fee for this training is P85,000 including a theoretical riding  lecture at the beginning. While on the track, the participants will have six  highly trained instructors to ride with them to provide a more in-depth  coaching style and to point out necessary corrections in their riding habits.

Everyday, Reinvented: Cross into the future with the new Corolla Cross

August 20, 2020 – After commemorating its 32nd anniversary this month, leading mobility company Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) marked another milestone by introducing the very first hybrid crossover in its lineup, the new Corolla Cross.

Designed as the stylish urban vehicle, the Corolla Cross combines Toyota’s signature “QDR” (quality, durability, and reliability) with style and functionality. Its hybrid electric variant further realizes Toyota’s vision of sustainable mobility and makes self-charging hybrid technology more accessible to Filipinos.

In addition to its hybrid technology, the Corolla Cross also features two of Toyota’s most advanced car technologies today, the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), and Toyota Safety Sense (TSS).

“Guided by our philosophy of making ever-better cars, Toyota took the best of a trusted model, the Toyota Corolla, and turned it into a sleek and modern crossover,” said TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto during the online launch of the new vehicle. “The Corolla Cross is designed to move you in comfort and style, whether you’re seeking adventure, doing business, or simply spending time with people you love,” he added.

First revealed in its global premiere last month, the Corolla Cross is the latest addition to Toyota’s global bestselling Corolla series. Since its launch in Japan in 1966, the Corolla series has sold a cumulative total of 48 million units or more, in more than 150 countries and regions around the world.

The New Corolla Cross, with its 1.8 V HV (Hybrid) and 1.8 G CVT variants will be available at Toyota dealerships nationwide from August 26, 2020.

Commanding Identity and Striking Design

The Corolla Cross’ exterior starts strong with its imposing double trapezoid front grille which gives the vehicle a wide and stable appearance. Exclusive to the hybrid variant are LED Light Curtain Daytime Running Lights and a subtle blue accent to the bi-beam LED headlamps which perfectly complements the blue Toyota logo. Sleek defined lines run from the side to the front of the aerodynamic cabin and the subtle “Double C” character lines along the vehicle’s side profile exudes a sophisticated impression.

Truly made for the urban setting, the high approach angle combines the strong stance with functionality, with great capability on speed bumps and inclines. The overall look of the vehicle emphasizes the spacious utility ready for the customer’s dynamic lifestyle, whether it be the weekday job or the weekend getaway.

Elegant Interior and Exceptional Ride Experience

Consistent with its sophisticated exterior, the Corolla Cross gets a classy minimalist interior which comes in leather for the hybrid variant. The wide and spacious cabin space gives abundant head clearance for easier ingress and the slim seatback gives ample legroom for backseat passengers.  The thinner pillars and rear quarter window add to the roomier atmosphere of the Corolla Cross and provides more outward visibility.

The hybrid variant also has a retractable tonneau cover for the rear trunk space for privacy, and the spacious trunk has comfortable loading height for ease of access.

The driver gets accessibility and control all throughout the ride with features such as Smart Entry and Push Start System, power adjust with auto fold for the side mirrors, power windows, and speed-sensing door locks, and for the 1.8 V hybrid variant, rain-sensing windshield wipers and 8-way power adjust driver’s seat. Convenient steering wheel switches enable the driver to adjust Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) features and 7” multi-information display for the 1.8 V hybrid, and audio, and phone connectivity features for all variants. Apple Carplay and Android Auto is compatible with the 1.8 V Hybrid’s display audio.

Conscious Performance and Sustainable Mobility

TMP positions adoption of hybrid electric vehicles as the perfect transition to vehicle electrification in the country. By popularizing hybrid technology and making it more accessible, TMP takes another step forward in line with Toyota’s global commitment to push for sustainable mobility as outlined in its Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050.

With its competitive price point, established Corolla legacy, and strong and sophisticated design, the Corolla Cross is the perfect road companion for customers who are looking for a stylish, functional, and efficient crossover.

The hybrid variant is powered by a 1.8L engine with Atkinson Cycle designed for the Hybrid system, and gets 1,798 cc displacement which gives of 142 max. torque @3,600 rpm, and an electric motor which helps in providing a 120hp total system max output. Three available driving modes (Eco, Power, and EV) also give the driver more control. With Hybrid technology, every trip is guaranteed to be:

  • Fuel-efficient – consume less fuel whenever the engine switches to the electric motor as the vehicle’s source of power
  • Environment-friendly – less fuel consumption means less CO2 emissions
  • Quiet – electric motors make very little noise while running
  • Comfortable – enjoy a more responsive drive and experience smoother acceleration perfect for city driving
  • Hassle-free – Hybrid vehicles do not have to be plugged in as the battery self –charges as the vehicle is driven. Every step on the brake allows the car to recharge.

The 1.8 G CVT variant gets 1,798cc displacement, 138hp total system maximum output, and 172Nm maximum torque @ 4,000 rpm with the 16-Valve DOHC, 4-Cylinder, In-line, Chain drive with Dual VVT-I engine.

Agility, Stability, and Visibility Developed Under Toyota New Global Architecture

Designed and developed under Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), the Corolla Cross embodies Toyota’s vision of making ever-better cars with core strength and an emphasized personality. Boasting a 10.4m curb-to-curb turning circle and a commanding view of the road with the high seating position and thinner front pillars, the driver feels more in control with the Corolla Cross.

Similar to the Corolla Altis, the Corolla Cross has a MacPherson strut front suspension optimized for its SUV structure. The rear suspension features an all-new torsion beam design which helps improve the ride handling and reduce body roll. The MacPherson strut/Torsion Beam suspension combined with the rigid body structure of the vehicle ensures the driver and passengers maximum ride stability and comfort all throughout the journey.

Tuason Racing shapes “new norm” in PH motorsports Taking local motorsports in virtual world

Physically distant, but close in spirit. The on-going worldwide coronavirus pandemic deeply changed the Filipinos’ way of living – from the way people live, communicate and work. Even world-renowned events and sports activities have been cancelled and postponed indefinitely.

The gradual reopening of cities and provinces still comes with health restrictions, making us adjust and live the “new normal”. Contact sports, including motor racing, may still be not allowed in the new normal, with athletes and enthusiasts alike shifting to virtual racing and e-sports to keep their excitement as they wait for the reopening of the racetracks and their favorite sport leagues.

Adjusting to the new normal

When Metro Manila went to an Enhanced Community Quarantine last March, Tuason Racing quickly embraced its transition to online activities.

“We knew we wanted to be in the digital space as early as 2019. So we pushed forward all our digital events such as the young driver program online with a skew to help our frontliners. What was very interesting was this pivot to online racing was done while in lockdown without even one physical meeting with our team,” said JP Tuason, founder and CEO of Tuason Racing.

Meanwhile, the company has implemented a work-from-home scheme until the end of 2020 and will reassess its plans for 2021 later in the year.

Shift to Sim Racing

Sim or virtual racing may not be new in the e-gaming industry, but it has shaped the way gamers and enthusiasts see this game in the new normal. The Philippines’ pioneering professional racing school, Tuason Racing, took this opportunity to launch motorsports in the virtual world.

“There has been a continuous surge for online games during the lockdown. More and more people are doing games since there are limited live activities to do. In the US all gaming stocks are on a high showing that this is really the future,” said Tuason.

Since Sim racing is still at its infancy stage in the Philippines, according to Tuason, the racing school will lead the way in providing professional league for players to enhance their skills on the track and on online platforms.

Programs of Tuason Racing in the new normal

Apart from the recently concluded Race for Frontliners, Tuason Racing has new programs that were also launched on its social media platforms.

“We have decided that the whole 2020 will be work-from-home. We have moved to the digital arena by creating online race series. We have finished race for frontliners, Toyota has just launched their esports program The GR Supra GT Cup which we are helping organize and in August we are launching another online league on a PC platform along with a complimentary spectators program where they can make their own teams and win prizes. Aside from this we are creating weekly content for race enthusiasts called Riding shotgun conversations with TRS,” said Tuason.

Tuason Racing will also pioneer its new normal racing events later in 2020 featuring contactless racing on- and off-track.

Outlook on Philippine motoring industry in post COVID-19

Even though the world reels from the COVID-19 health crisis, JP Tuason remains positive that the automotive industry will soon recover and learn new things that they can apply in the future.

“It will recover as mentioned. Companies are evolving. It won’t be called car companies but mobility companies…they will surely find new ways. There will be some casualties but life goes on and those that will survive will thrive but probably not the same way we have seen in the past,” Tuason concluded.

Toyota Motor PH celebrates 32 years with plans in new normal Toyota Motor PH remains optimistic despite COVID-19

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) highlighted its 32nd year of operations by launching the 2021 Vios, and having high hopes on the reopening of the economy after the community quarantine.

“In our over 30-year history, we have faced many challenges but this is by far the most challenging we have seen.  Of one thing I am sure: this will be our finest moment. We will draw on our collective strength to support government in its recovery efforts and we will assure our customers and each one in our Toyota family that we will stand by each other every step of the way,” said TMP Chairman Alfred Ty in a message to all team members.

Despite the on-going worldwide coronavirus pandemic, TMP still pushed through their anniversary celebration by conducting a virtual gathering of the whole company, in line with the emerging new work norms.

During the virtual celebration, TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoro expressed his optimism that the Philippines will be successful in battling the COVID-19. “Other countries have shown that this virus can be controlled. We will get there, too, if we continue our adherence to the necessary health protocols.  We will win this battle,” he said. “I would like to thank the government and all our front-line workers for their selfless efforts in this time of crisis. Let us work together and heal as one.”

As it marks 32 years in the Philippines, TMP embarks in earnest on its transition to a mobility company. Together with its 71 dealers nationwide, Toyota is transforming itself into a one-stop solution provider to meet the growing mobility needs of Filipinos. In line with its mission of providing the best vehicle purchase and ownership experience, TMP has expanded its services to include Toyota Financial Services, Toyota Insure Program and Toyota Certified Used Vehicles.

In the area of new mobility, it has started offering Connected Auto Loans, Full Service Leases and a newly launched Kinto package that is similar to a vehicle subscription program. TMP is also piloting On-Demand Shuttle services with the Department of Transportation and offering Fleet Management Services to select partners.

Additionally, Toyota has ramped up its program of digitalization to meet a growing and apparent shift in consumer behavior towards an online consumer experience. New initiatives such as the launch of a virtual Toyota showroom, a new MyToyotaPH app that puts maintenance of your Toyota vehicle on your mobile phone and even an exciting new Supra GT Cup race experience in place of the well-followed Vios Cup.

As TMP moves forward, it reaffirms its partnership with the Filipino people.  “This crisis is surely a very challenging experience for everyone.  But as market leader, it is our responsibility to elevate customer service even in these most difficult times. We will redouble our efforts in helping to bring the Philippine economy back on track to a better tomorrow. Indeed, we are stronger together,” concluded Chairman Ty.

Toyota Motor Philippines announces the launch of their latest online E-Sports program – GR Supra GT Cup Asia – Philippines

This move was brought about by the latest situation where safety is of highest concern to everyone and mass gatherings like physical races are foreseen to be limited in the coming months.

“Safety of our customers, employees, and fans are always at the top of our priority,” expressed TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto. “But we also recognize the value of waku-doki spirit in everyone! This is a great way to sustain the excitement of motorsports program in the Philippines in a safe environment.”

The GR Supra GT Cup Asia – Philippines, an e-racing event under Toyota’s Gazoo Racing motorsports program, will be fully held online and will be open to the public, ages 18 and above. “Finally, Toyota fans can participate in our sports program at the comfort and safety of their own homes. We also expect this activity to reach a wider and younger audience, based on the profile of gamers.” The online e-race, using Toyota’s legendary sports car icon, the GR

Supra, is expected to start in July 2020. Winners of the e-race will get a chance to participate in the regional finals, the GR Supra GT Cup – Asia.

E-Sports in the Philippines have grown in popularity over the years. The addition of E-sports programs in various international competitions, producing Filipino medalists, have further legitimized the sport.

The GR Supra GT Cup Asia – Philippines is Toyota’s fun and safe alternative to holding the country’s number one motorsports program, The Vios Racing Festival. Usually held in 3 legs from the second to the fourth quarter, the current situation makes it very challenging for Toyota, the racings teams, the drivers, and public spectators to do this physical event.

“We look forward to a better 2021 Vios Racing Festival Season where we can go back to the tracks again and feel the heat and excitement. But for now, we invite everyone to join the GR Supra GT Cup Asia E-Sports Program,” Okamoto concluded.

More details of the GR Supra GT Cup Asia – Philippines will be announced soon. Stay tuned at Toyota.com.ph and facebook/ToyotaMotorPhilippines to get updates.
